Can Color and a Brazilian/Keratin Treatment Be Done on the Same Day?

Can color and a Brazilian/Keratin Treatment be done on the same day? This was a question asked of me and other beauty professionals over the weekend, but I waited to answer until today for Wednesday’s Q&A.

Whoop, whoop, happy Hump Day hotties, and happy Thanksgiving to all of my readers! Don’t forget, if you drink and eat too much (which I will), consume a glass of warm lemon water Friday morning to detox your body, and drink plenty of water on Thanksgiving and the next day to stay hydrated.

This Wednesday’s Ask the Pro Stylist Q&A comes from a friend on Facebook who wanted to know if color and a Brazilian/Keratin Treatment could be done on the same day. She tagged me and a few other hairstylists, but as I didn’t see it till later, I didn’t respond, because she was given the correct answer. But I thought it would be a great question for this column since I am sure many are curious. We live in a busy, busy world, so anything that saves time is precious.

Question! Can you have a Brazilian/Keratin treatment and dye your hair on the same day? Help me my beautician friends.

Well, the answer is yes, but color should occur before the treatment. So to validate for the readers, I turned to the two biggest names in the hair smoothing business, Brazilian Blowout and Keratin Complex.

Brazilian Blowout said, “Yes, but it must be done before the application of the treatment.” Keratin Complex concurred adding, “A great time to have the treatment done is directly after permanent color, semi-permanent color or highlights. The treatment seals the color in, making it last longer and appear more vibrant. If you choose to have color applied after the treatment, we recommend waiting at least two weeks.”

If you have a question similar to the color and a Brazilian/Keratin treatment above, please email me at DeirdreAHaggerty@gmail.com. Don’t forget to look 2 posts before this one for a chance to win a holiday giveaway from Clarisonic. Until then, happy styling and Happy Thanksgiving!
