The Best Professional Hair Color Brands: My Opinion

The best professional hair color brands, in my opinion, vary by need. As today is Wednesday, it is time to answer a question on how to achieve a deep, blue, shiny black.

It’s Hump Day, whoop, and whoop! Since Wednesday is for answering readers’ queries, today’s Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist focuses on the best professional hair color brands. Of course it is strictly my opinion.

Nancy wants to know the best hair color to use for a deep blue black, with a lot of shine, and great gray coverage. My advice was to use 1N and add blue intensifier from Paul Mitchell the Color XG. Unlike the Color, which I believe is leaving the professional world, the Color XG has many benefits. It is permanent, semi, demi line where the ammonia increases the lighter you get. In addition, it provides optimal gray coverage without upping the developer.

Additionally it is based off the European models such as Goldwell and IT&LY Hair Fashion, which are 2 of the best professional hair color brands around. The difference, it is easier for freelance stylists to purchase Paul Mitchell at local professional beauty supply stores.

For vibrant reds I highly suggest the above. However, for ideal gray coverage, I love Wella Koleston. It does not fade and also does not need to up the developer for optimal gray handling.

Nancy did not feel the formula provides great shine. My advice is to use PM Shines 1B or Redken Shades. The translucent color will give incredible luster,
