Long Layers Gone Wrong
Long layers should never be left to look like a mullet. Unfortunately Ask the Pro Stylist recently had to fix such a bad haircut disaster, which is why it is part of this week’s Hair Police.
Happy Monday gorgeous and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s weekly Hair Police column where a hair or beauty faux pas has been unearthed. This week we noticed a bad haircut: long layers gone wrong.
I cannot get into too much detail about this issue without unveiling whom the hairstyle culprit is. But, I will do my best to convey why it is more important to have an even haircut than keep the length.
A stylist was completing long layers and didn’t over direct the sections to keep the length and blend the haircut. Instead, the guest was left with a mullet.
I had to go in and work some magic to blend the long layers, inevitably asking the guest if we could take a bit more off the length. Thankfully, she was agreeable to the idea.
Not everyone has a great day, nor is every stylist perfect, however it is never optimal to leave a long layer in such a way that the hair ends up looking like a mullet. If I hadn’t corrected the long layers, the client would have left with a bad haircut similar to the attached photo.
If you ever find yourself the recipient of such a bad haircut, then suggest the stylist cut the mullet to blend with your long layers. Hair grows back, and it is better to have a shorter style than one that looks like it is stuck in 1985. Until next week, happy styling!
