Happy Tuesday gorgeous, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s How-to Tuesday guide. This spring/summer has focused on hair, makeup, nail art, and skincare for the warm seasons. This week’s treat is a DIY summer beauty recipe from Melissa Quin of SkinnyAffair.com, a popular style, wellness and fitness blog.

DIY scrubs are ideal before sunless tanning, and perfect for after a day at the beach to refresh the skin that could have been damaged by overexposure to the sun. After using the DIY summer beauty recipe in the shower or bath, be sure to apply moisturizer for optimal hydration.

The summer beauty recipe, with its three main ingredients of shea butter, sea salt, and coconut oil, which is verbatim, is as follows. Visit SkinnyAffair.com for more information.

DIY Summer Beauty Recipe Essentials:

  • 1 part Out of Africa Lavender Pure Shea Butter
  • 1 part coconut oil
  • 3 to 4 parts fine ground sea salt
  • Plate
  • Spoon
  • Mason Jar

Using your spoon, place 1 part shea butter and 1 part coconut oil on the plate. “Melissa used Out of Africa’s Lavender Pure Shea Butter. It’s 100% pure, unrefined, and is hand harvested in Africa. Lavender adds a nice scent and in aromatherapy, is relaxing and calming.”

Add on the 3-4 parts sea salt to the plate and slowly start to mix the ingredients together.

Carefully transfer all 3 ingredients to the jar and thoroughly mix everything together to finish.

All-natural scrubs are great for a variety of skin issues. However, seek the guidance of a dermatologist for more serious conditions. Visit me next week for another step-by-step guide similar to this week’s DIY summer beauty recipe. Until then, happy styling!
