Best Color Protect Shampoo

What’s the best color protect shampoo for my newly colored hair was a question recently asked of me from a young woman that went from blonde to an espresso brown. Find the answer in this Wednesday’s Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist.

It’s Hump Day, whoop, whoop! Hello gorgeous, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s Q&A of the week. This Wednesday we discuss the best color protect shampoo.

A friend recently went from highlighted blonde to an espresso brunette. She asked me what color to use, but refused the advice of the filler. Needless to say, after only one shampoo, the highlights were peeping through.

The hair color care then turned to what beauty product was used to wash the hair, and it was uncovered that she used a pharmacy brand. A bit panicky, she then asked what was the best color protect shampoo to use to maintain the beautiful, rich, deep espresso brown that was created.

I recommended Paul Mitchell Ultimate Color Repair that locks in hair color and restores the hair’s luster. However, whether you use my recommendation for the best color protect shampoo, or your stylist’s, the fact is you must use a professional brand that promises to maintain the salon service you just received.

Major retail or pharmacy brand shampoos will not offer proper hair color protection. Professional brands create the hair color used in the salons, and are more than familiar with what is needed to guarantee their product (the color service) exceeds expectations. This means adhering to your knowledgeable stylist’s/colorist’s recommendations. They know what works best because they take the time to care about your hair.
