DipIt Nails Versus Gel Manicure

DipIt Nails Versus Gel Manicure

DipIt Nails versus a gel manicure is the focus of today’s Ask the Pro Stylist’s query. A nail salon regular loved her first exposure to DipIt Nails, and was curious on my opinion of the nail enhancers.

Whoop, Whoop, Happy Hump Day Hotties, and welcome to Wednesday’s Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist. This week Amy, a colleague and friend, wanted to know the difference between DipIt nails (not to be confused with Dip Gel Nails) and a regular gel manicure.

Went to get my nails done last week – my usual gel manicure. My lady talked me into color “DipIt”. The color and shine is amazing- like a cut pink armor of steel. What’s your opinion on one versus the other?

My short answer, “DipIt Nails is basically colored acrylic nails, it will last longer than a gel manicure, and all you have to do is fill in between. There are pros and cons for both. However, if your a nail salon regular, then this is probably the better alternative.” But, I wanted to investigate further.

The DipIt brand is fairly new, about 4-5-years old. I remember seeing a demo on it sometime ago, or a similar type of process from another company. The nails are dipped into an acrylic-like power, and sealed with a glue/top coat. DipIt, however, claims to be odorless and weightless with a faster application than acrylic.

DipIt clients rave about the finish, as Amy did above, and it could last longer than a gel manicure. DipIt Nails is billed as an “acrylic alternative.” Caution should always be advised if you have ever had an allergy to gel nails or acrylic nails when using a new product. There is still buffing of the natural nail, which does thin it, but if you are a salon regular, then this is a nice, colorful option with a variety of shades and sparkles to choose from. And the electric nail machine is unnecessary to buff nails, which only leads to more damage of the nail bed.
