Wedding Hairstyles How-to Continued: Romantic Side Ponytail

It is always the right time to search wedding hairstyles. You want the perfect hair to complement the dress of your dreams. Ask the Pro Stylist has devoted five weeks to wedding hairstyles. Last week the featured look was a very Victorian tousled side updo. This Tuesday’s wedding hairstyle is a romantic side ponytail with glamorous waves.

There are so many wedding hairstyles to choose from, it’s enough to make a bridezilla breathe fire. Don’t stress, as the next few weeks features a series of wedding hairstyles. The guide is courtesy of Lizzie Liros, wedding hairstyle specialist and White Sands Hair Care, a favorite of Ask the Pro Stylist and part of this Tuesday’s how-to segment. Each week Ask the Pro Stylist details how-to recreate a look at home, or I reiterate style guides from other hair professionals for those in the industry to use on clients.

This week is dedicated to the second of a five-part bridal collection series with wedding hairstyles from Lizzie Liros. The dreamy romantic side ponytail exudes glamour. It is perfect for a strapless wedding gown or an off-the shoulder, asymmetrical look where the hair could be worn down and on the opposite side of the fabric. The remaining three looks of gorgeous bridal hair tutorials will be featured here sequentially in the upcoming weeks.

  1. Create a clean straight right hand side part on clean dry hair (or whichever side you prefer, and if an asymmetrical wedding gown, the opposite side you want the hair to fall.)
  2. Next, Section the hair in 1-inch sections and spray with White Sands Infinity Hair Spray before styling.
  3. Using medium size hot rollers, curl one section of hair at a time, winding the hair on a 90-degree angle.
  4. Allow the hair to cool for 20 minutes before styling.
  5. Using an Afro comb or pick, gently brush the hair on a downward stroke until curls are blended into soft waves.
  6. Sweep the hair to the right hand side (or left) to create a soft low ponytail and secure into place. Ensure hair at front fringe area is left free. Hide the fastener with a piece of hair.
  7. Smooth flyaway hairs and add shine with White Sands Smudge.
  8. Lightly finger-tease the ends of the hair to add texture to one of five of Lizzie’s finished wedding hairstyles.

Be sure to come back next week for number three of Lizzie Liros’ wedding hairstyles, a plaited, braided updo. Until then, happy styling!
