Stronghold Hairspray For the Holidays

A stronghold hold hairspray with movability is a must for the holidays, especially when hopping from one event to the next. This Friday’s favorite beauty product of the week does just that, plus it smells divine.

TGIF gorgeous, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s favorite beauty product of the week. I recently received a bottle of stronghold hairspray, used throughout fashion week, and I fell in love upon first application.

The stronghold hairspray from Redken, triple take 32, comes highly recommended. It holds without the tacky feeling some other brands leave behind and it smells delish, which is why it quickly became a Friday fave.

To supplement this week’s beauty review, the folks at Redken sent over a hair guide from the Lanvin Spring/Summer 2016 fashion show. Balancing boyish masculinity with feminine charm, Redken Global Creative Director Guido sculpted an easy-feeling French twist for the runway.

Stronghold Hairspray from Redken: Triple Take 32

“The look at Lanvin is always about funky character and ease. The messy twist this season is very boyish and masculine, but the bow in the back adds an off-ness and ease that’s very Lanvin. It almost feels a little Leslie Caron. First, I sculpted a messy French twist using Redken’s new triple take 32, because I needed a very strong hairspray to create the shape I wanted. Then, I pinned it in place and pulled the ponytail up over the top of the head, laying the tail across the forehead to look like bangs, and finished by placing an imperfect bow in the back. It’s a look that most women could do on their own by simply twisting the hair up and then using the tail as bangs.”

To get the look using this Friday’s favorite beauty product of the week, triple take 32 stronghold hairspray, follow the steps outlined by Guido below. For the upcoming holiday season use the same color or replace the ribbon with additional festive colors such as silver, red or green.

  1. Start with dry, straight hair, ideally one day old.
  2. Apply Redken powder grip 03 mattifying hair powder to the roots for grip and added texture.
  3. Spray Redken triple take 32 extreme high-hold hairspray all over hair for a little extra grip and sheen.
  4. Use fingers to gather hair into a ponytail and twist up into a French twist, pinning at the crease with small hairpins.
  5. Lay the length of the ponytail across the top of the head so the ends lay across the forehead to create faux bangs.
  6. Crease a piece of ribbon and tie it into an imperfect bow, and then place it in the hair with a pin to slightly disguise the twist.
  7. Finish by spraying Redken triple take 32 extreme high-hold hairspray all over hair for extra hold.
