In an effort to jumpstart the beauty careers of future professionals in the Detroit area, Salon Matchmakers launches its first hairstyling competition at the Dorsey School of Beauty, Roseville Campus, Michigan, along with sponsors Great Clips of Grosse Point.

Happy Saturday beautiful and happy Memorial Day weekend. Today brings a special piece written by me for the new Sassoon salon job site Salon Matchmakers. It is a place for beauty professionals to unite with salons and spas. I highly recommend to check it out.

With a deadline of May 16, cosmetology students registered on http://salonmatchmakers.com, uploading pictures of hairstyles of “The Prom Look.” Finally, prizes were awarded for first and second place on May 25.

The purpose of the competition is to have fun and help motivate students to be active on Salon Matchmakers. With co-founders Eden and Elan Sassoon and Michelle Leffler, Salon Matchmakers, the salon job site offers immense opportunities in the beauty industry.

The hair competition initiative was a huge success with many students enrolling for free on the salon job site. In addition, uploading fantastic photos of their creative up-dos for prom creates extraordinary visibility.

Winners were revealed at the Dorsey School of Beauty’s Open House May 25. Taking first place, Ms. Paulette. Receiving accolades for her work, while enhancing her model’s natural beauty boosts the future professional’s confidence. In addition, all participants enjoyed a goodie bag from Great Clips.

According to Associate Director of Cosmetology Lisa Cosey-Nolan, “The buzz at the Town Hall meeting was all about the Matchmaker competition.” The effort in detailing the hairstyles helps the student participants sharpen skills. In addition there is an opportunity to show off their styling skills, getting ready for salon life.

As a result, excitement was in the air the Dorsey School of Beauty, with students spending two weeks creating “The Prom Look.” Enhancing the road to stylist success, Judge Gregory Marks, founder of the Right Now Today organization, declared “They all have great potential!”
