GOT hair? Every Game of Thrones fan has a favorite character they love to love or hate. Whether it’s the silver-haired Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen, the Queen of all villainesses Cersei Lannister (before her hair was chopped off), or the redhead on the run Sansa Stark, a GOT braid will get you through the summer and make you the envy of all your Game of Thrones’ fanatical friends.

Happy Tuesday gorgeous, and welcome to this week’s Ask the Pro Stylist how-to guide celebrating GOT hair, or the braids most commonly seen on Game of Thrones’ characters Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister pre-chop, and Sansa Stark. Redken Artist Doug Treadway provided the step-by-steps using Redken hair care and styling products for you to recreate your favorite GOT hairstyles at home.

Daenerys Targaryen

GOT Hair: Game of Thrones Hairstyle Breakdowns – Daenerys

  1. Spray iron shape 11 finishing thermal spray evenly onto the hair.
  2. Curl the hair in sections using a 1-inch curling iron.
  3. Take a section on either side of the temple area and apply braid aid 03 braid defining lotion.
  4. Create a three-strand braid on either side.
  5. Secure the braids at the back of the head with an elastic band.
  6. Below the braid on either side of the head, take a section above the ear and apply braid aid 03 braid defining lotion.
  7. Again, create a three-strand braid on either side.
  8. Secure braids at the back of the head with an elastic band and massage the braids to expand them and make them bigger.
  9. Add some big waves for that just got out of the hot fire look.
  10. Take a broach or ornamental jewelry and cover the elastic, securing all of the braids together.
  11. Finish the GOT hair with triple take 32 high-hold hairspray for long-lasting wear.

Cersei Lannister (before the short hair)

  1. Spray iron shape 11 finishing thermal spray evenly onto the hair.
  2. Curl the hair in sections using a 1-inch curling iron.
  3. Take two sections on either side of the temple area and apply move ability 05 lightweight defining cream-paste.
  4. Twist each section and secure at the back of the head. Take the sections and rub in-between fingers to expand the twist.
  5. Grab two sections right above the ears (below your first twist) and apply move ability 05 lightweight defining cream-paste. Twist the sections and secure at the back of the head.
  6. Take the ends and work move ability 05 lightweight defining cream-paste through the ponytails and create a three-strand braid.
  7. Secure with an elastic band.
  8. Wrap a small section of hair around the band to camouflage it.
  9. Finish the Cersei Lannister GOT hair with triple take 32 high-hold hairspray.

Sansa Stark

GOT Hair: Game of Thrones Hairstyle Breakdowns – Sansa

  1. Starting at the crown area split the hair into two sections to create a half up/half down look.
  2. Spray the roots with quick tease 15 backcombing finishing spray and apply a small amount of powder grip 03 mattifying hair powder to create grip at the roots and lock in backcombing.
  3. Backcomb the crown area of the hair to create fullness and body.
  4. Apply braid aid 03 braid defining lotion and create (2) three-strand braids, starting above the forehead.
  5. Wrap the braids around the backcombed section and secure with pins.
  6. For lasting hold, finish the Sansa Stark GOT hair with forceful 23 super strength hairspray.
