The past few months have been tutorials from other experts for hair, nails and beauty tips for the spring and summer. But this week I want to return to my roots, no pun intended, sort of, and give a little simple advice from me for gorgeous hair, simply.

5 Simple Steps to Gorgeous Hair

Healthy Nutrition

Healthy nutrition is the key to great everything, including gorgeous hair. Beauty starts from the inside out. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Eat a balanced diet rich in Biotin, a B vitamin, along with B6, B12, Vitamin C, and folate, all essential for hair growth and a healthy scalp. Avocado, salmon, eggs, beans, low-fat dairy, spinach, bell peppers, and sweet potatoes are just a few of the recommended food needed for strong, shiny hair.

Trim Every 6-8 Weeks

Trimming hair often keeps your hair healthy and free from split ends. While trimming doesn’t necessarily cause the hair to grow, it does keep breakage and damaged hair from getting worse, which will necessitate more to be cut off to keep your hair gorgeous.

Avoid Hair Color at Home

I have said it 1,000 times, and I will say it 1,000 more, stop using shit-ass box hair color. Every single person I have talked to that has a hair question or complaint about his or her hair is from someone who colors the hair at home. No, it won’t grow, look lustrous, and not be brassy, and the color will fade in relative seconds compared to salon brands.

Wash Infrequently

Washing less often keeps essential oils on the scalp and hair, which frequent shampooing will remove. Frequent washing will fade hair color and remove other salon services faster than if you skip a day, 2 or even 3. This is the reason dry shampoo and conditioners have become so popular. Find a brand you love and use it. Your hair will thank you!

Give Your Hair a Break

Simply stated, give your hair a break from heat styling and styling products at least 2 days out of the week. Think of it as the 5-2 detox for gorgeous hair.
