Golden Globes Celebrity Hairstyles: Who Wore it Best?

Golden Globes Celebrity Hairstyles: Who Wore it Best?

The 71st Annual Golden Globes aired Sunday night on NBC with the usual standout beauties. Taylor Swift wore the wavy faux bob that she has donned repeatedly as of late to formal events, however three celebrity hairstyles stood out for the evening: Amy Adams’ and Sarah Hyland’s braids, Sandra Bullock’s and Amy Poehler’s side ponytails and Hayden Panettiere and Kristin Chenoweth’s slicked back looks. Who wore which celebrity hairstyle the best?

The Golden Globes is by far Ask the Pro Stylist’s favorite awards show. I love to see the stars let loose, down a few drinks and have fun, and no host or hosts have the same camaraderie and comedic repartee as my heroes, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Golden Globe winner and co-host Amy Poehler wore a loose and wavy side ponytail during her many wardrobe changes, as did nominee Sandra Bullock. Who wore the celebrity hairstyle best? This one is a tie. Both side ponytails fit the gowns, were carefree, yet elegant for the formality of the red carpet.

The recently engaged Hayden Panettiere slicked back her straight bob and gave it some height, as did her older counterpart, the 45-year-old Kristin Chenoweth. Both women wanted to add a little lift to their stature, however it was Chenoweth who stole the show with her celebrity hairstyle, which took years off of her already young appearance and was better suited for a shorter haircut. Conversely, the hairstyle aged the 24-year-old Panettiere.

We love braids, and as I have predicted for the past few years now, they have become one of the hottest hairstyle trends. Last night’s Golden Globes saw “Modern Family’s” Sarah Hyland with a braided crown and center part, where as Golden Globe winner Amy Adams wore plated braids that surrounded her bun, who also had a center part. Who wore it best? By far, hands down Amy Adams rocked that look. Sarah Hyland’s hair was a tad disheveled, matronly and didn’t complement her beautiful young face.

If you pre-game as I do and star gaze as the celebs hit the red carpet, you undoubtedly watched 1st Look Live, an NBC production, on the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, which aired before the Today Show hosts took over the televisions. News correspondent Joelle Garguilo was overly enthusiastic, however it was her major faux pas with Megan Mullaly that caught my attention, and hopefully earned her a tongue lashing from her employers.

As Shaun Robinson sent the moment back to Garguilo, who interviewed Nick Offerman of “Parks and Recreation” on the Golden Globes’ red carpet, Joelle simply introduced Megan Mullaly as “his wife”. GASP! The 55-year-old actress just smiled and was completely gracious, but it was evident she thought Joelle was a nincompoop, as did I. Read your notes Garguilo and do a little research. Megan Mullaly is a huge star and an NBC favorite from “Will and Grace”. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk!
