Cosmetology State Board Exam Cheating: Hang Your Head LOW!

Not sure what is worse: Cosmetology State Board Exam cheating or the proctors that turn a blind eye. Either way, both groups are the topic of this week’s Ask the Pro Stylist Hair Police.

Happy Monday beautiful and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s Hair Police. On this week’s chopping block is Cosmetology State Board Exam Cheating. I wish I didn’t know of some former students proudly copying off one another during their written examination. Alas, but I do!

Initially, I was full of pure disgust and disappointment when I found out about the cheating. And then I questioned the whereabouts of the proctors. Once upon a time, examiners had eagle eyes. Apparently they did not pay attention to the current crop of testers during the written portion of a recent New York State Cosmetology State Board Exam.

Let me begin by stating that the lack of respect for the industry by the cheaters and the proctors for not giving a shit is nauseating. There are many of us who hold what we do in high regard. No, just because you paid for an education, doesn’t mean you deserve to pass. Your lazy ass needs to show up to class and be PRESENT. Do the work, pay attention, stay off your phones and earn your license. PATHETIC!

I’d love to blame the school or the teachers. Hell, I was one for a short period of time, albeit I only taught State Board periodically as a fill-in. But, even though the State Board specialist at my old place of employment was a foul-smelling, shit-stirring, lying bitch, she did provide an assortment of information for all types of learners. You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. That means, YOU actually need to do the WORK!

This entire topic saddens me for the future of the beauty industry. I know there are good, hard-working beauticians out there. However, knowing what I know sickens me.

Additionally, a recent graduate that did pass killed the hair of 2 former colleagues. Again, here is another example of never listening or paying attention in class. But her mess will be part of next week’s Hair Police.

Please, for God’s sake, show some respect for this field and have a little self-respect and do not attempt Cosmetology State Board Exam Cheating. How in the world could you feel good about yourself when your license and passing grade is a lie?
